I thought I would kick start my new blog with a quick introduction to search engine optimisation. For those of you who do not know me, I have been working in the internet field for some time now as a search engine optimisation specialist working alongside some of the most experienced people in the industry. Through this I have gained a wealth of information and a huge insight into the online marketing industry.
Search engine optimisation, or SEO as it is vastly becoming known, is quickly becoming more and more of an influential factor for many businesses both large and small. Over the last few years the internet ‘boom’ has shaken up the marketing industry and now every business worth its cause has an online presence in one way or another.
Web design has become a huge industry as business turn to the internet to expand their target market and their client base however its all well and good having a visually stunning user friendly website but what is the point if no one can find it? This is where SEO comes into play.

In its most basic form, search engine optimisation is a method of promoting a website online by raising the visibility of the website within popular search engines for key phrases relevant to the organisation in question. By doing this a business can increase its authority within its primary target market, promote its target market to a far wider audience increasing brand awareness, generating in more customers, and ultimately generating more money, making visibility within search is essential for any business!
Compliant search engine optimisation is far from an easy task. Anyone with any SEO knowledge will tell you the many different ways in which a website can be penalised for using non-compliant techniques to maliciously promote a website within search, which in turn can have a substantially detrimental affect on a business. This is a ‘black-hat’ practice which many ‘apparently seo’ companies tend to use; unfortunately the benefits are soon forgotten once a website has been penalised within search making the website pretty much inaccessible for potential customers.
Anyway I’ve given you the most basic of overviews so I will leave it at that for now however I will certainly be delving deeper into the world of search engine optimisation as time goes on.
