Marketing agencies often overlook the importance of SEO when they come up with a new brand name. It is advisable to do a significant amount of research into what brand you choose before making a final decision, so that you don’t stunt its success before it has even been implemented. Whether you are selling microwaves or have a new dealership brand for used Lexus cars – SEO is a crucial consideration.

So, Those Imperious Google folk have come up with yet another product to help the internet get along. Only this time, they’re kind of hijacking one of the most valuable and Googlejuicy aspects of having a website or blog: the comment thread.

Of course, others have tried to do this before, namely the Third Voice – but with little success. The Sidewiki is a tool that can forms part of the Google toolbar, and allows comments to be posted on any page on the net. As it floats above pages as opposed to being in it, no webmaster can opt out. The only saving grace for the webmaster is the fact that he or she can control the top comment (via Google Webmaster).

Sometimes employers don’t like their staff nipping off to have a fag on a regular basis; they’d rather see them at their desks, busily working away. But in reality, can having regular fag breaks or having chats by water coolers actually benefit business?

I think these moments are often the ones where the best ideas come from. They don’t have the slightly more up-tight feel of official meetings. People like having their props while they talk, too, whether it’s a quick cigarette or a glass of water – it all adds to the relaxed feeling of these meetings.

Search engine results may retrieve results that could be too explicit for children, even if you type in a key term that is deemed innocent. Words like ‘Essex’ may return sites about Essex, but because it contains the word ’sex’ as well, this may return some not so appropriate sites suitable for adults only. This is exactly the kind of problem most parents with young children and Muslims face on a daily basis when using the internet.

The Google search algorithm has come a long way, and is arguably the most advanced search engine service around. Although the exact way it works will remain a mystery, many SEO specialists have pinpointed how to ‘work’ the algorithm to their advantage. But one question that often occurs as regards the algorithm is ‘Can Google Identify Bad Writing?’

When the First World War broke out, parts of the London Underground had to close down because the parts required for the maintenance of the trains were manufactured in Germany. This reliance on German technology and engineering has never really faded. From a high tech battle tank to a used BMW – the Germans just can’t stop making good stuff.

The old Germans, whatever you think of them, have always been good at making things. Admittedly, they have also been good at making war machines – deadly Messerschmitts, terrifying Stuka dive bombers, pant-wettingly destructive battle tanks (think Panzer and Tiger).

There seems to be an emerging new kind of business; one that is becoming the envy of large corporations across the globe. These businesses know their customers on a much more individual basis than a larger firm could possibly know them – and the internet gives them their power. Of course you can’t run, for example, a self storage business this way – you need to take advantage of the available technology.

These businesses are distinct from a small village business in that their loyal customer base is not within a radius of a few miles – their customers are based right across the world. That is the beauty of the global village; there are no more boundaries.
